and someone I cared deeply for asked me / stated to me:

This is how I replied to him:
I care because there are people fighting and losing their lives for something i take for granted every single day... I imagine what life would be like if I had to deal with the crap they have to deal with daily, and I don't think i'd last long.. Women over there have to have their heads covered all the time, and if they don't, they're picked up by morality police.. if a man and a woman who aren't married are caught talking (yes, just TALKING) they're dragged away by the morality police... I can talk to who I choose, I can wear my hair not only out, but strange colors, I can have bare arms, I can dance and sing and be silly.
I care about my neighbor across the street who goes for dialysis 3 times a week, and another neighbor who just lost her son, I care for my bosses daughter who had to have emergency surgery on her mouth because of an infected tooth..
But I'm here.. and i can walk over and hug them and comfort them... and I do... this is all i can do for those suffering in Iran.
